This is our first marine tank and so far things are going well. We are using an in sump protein skimmer (not yet skimming anything as bioload is low), (4) T5 Corallife lights, (4) 3w Blue LED, (2) 250w Metal Hallide, all in one unit with option to run all or select which ones we want to run. The Mag 7 return pump is rated at 700 gallons per hour (probably around 550 if you subtract for plumbing and distance). We started the tank with Fritzyme 900 Turbo Start and made sure to feed tank a pinch or two of food three days before adding our two Yellowtail Damsel. Using a 300w tank heater to maintain temperature, although, when running Metal Hallide, heat becomes more of an issue than cold as we live in Texas. Just ordered an in tank 13w UV Sterilizer, Seachem Phosgard, and Selcon (Fish Vitamins). Hoping to minimize the Algae bloom that I have been told will precede the tank cycle.
