Introduction
At one point, this aquarium was divided in two to have two bettas in "apartments". The bettas in the left apartment kept dying off, so I removed the barrier, simplified the accessories to give it a more open look, and let the remaining betta have full run of the place.
Background
The Fluvial Spec V seemed to be a good setup for what I needed, but I was concerned about it as a betta tank. I tried some Googling while I was in the fish store, but the modification sites wouldn't come up. I could only find reviews saying it was a great betta tank. Ok.
At home I could bring up the sites, and found that, yes, it is a great betta tank, provided you put some modifications in place. So I did the following:
1) Two screen dividers with plants in between
2) Sealed lower filter bypass with sealant
3) Screen over filter intake
4) Three holes in pump outlet
5) Removed pump outlet nozzle
6) Foam diffuser over pump outlet
7) Heater in pump well
8) Plastic covers over open parts of cover

Inspiration & Goals
Our inspiration is to have two beautiful bettas to brighten our kitchen.
Our goal is to keep them safely in a separated aquarium large enough to maintain a good environment without a lot of maintenance.
