Today I build my temporary reef tank in the other room. We are moving within the next 60 days and I will be breaking down the main display. I plan on drilling and putting in a overflow box. I will also be adding another foot to the height of the stand. My plan is to have one overflow go down into an external 25 gallon refugium then flow down into a frag tank and finally go into the sump. I will have the other bulkhead go into the sump directly. I tested the concept last night and it does work. With two 25 gallon tanks and a sump i should be at about 200 gallons water volume. Im looking forward to having the system drilled and having a faster flow rate in the sump. Regardless Over the last 8 months with this system i have learned so much.
My heater died today thankfully I just took down the 150 tank and had an extra
I put the lights back on the normal light cycle. Some of my sps showed stress so instead of losing them ill take the chance and run the lights as normal. I will do another water change in a day or so along with continuing to dose peroxide
80 hours of darkness is complete and i do not see any Dinoflagellates. I will be doing a week or two of just blue lights and dosing Peroxide for a week or two. Only time will tell if this works. Fish and corals look to be ok at this point.
Been dealing with what i just found out to be Dinoflagellates for about a week. Im going to do a 72-84 hour lights out and follow this guys guide to getting rid of it for good. I already lost my yellow tang and my pink birdsnest looks pissed off from this stuff. I covered the entire tank with cardboard and put an air stone in I also ran my skimmer line outside for fresh air intake. The PH is currently at 8.4 and we will see how the tank looks on sunday afternoon. The guide says to run just blues for 12 hours a day for a week on top of the 72 hours of darkness. I will do more research on that before this three day thing is over. I need to make sure my sps can stay alive with just blue lights.
Took Frag tank off today.
Added light green hammer today with 5 heads. its not in the greatest shape but hopefully it will come around like the others.
40 frags in the frag tank so far. just waiting on more plugs in the mail.
Just added a 20 gallon Frag tank to the main system. Put the two clown fish in it along with a few frags i had.
Added 32 Frags today. Most of them are sps. Birdsnest, montipora, and a bunch of zoanthids
