Also trimmed some plants since they are growing out of the tank.
Today when i cleaned the filter i found out that there where some shrimps sucked into the filter. So i put a pantyhose over the inlet of the filter to prevent them from being sucked in again.
A big day. The first inhabitants where added to the tank tonight.
Via marktplaats.nl i bought 40 japonica shrimps.
Japonica's are great in cleaning up your tank, especially alges.
I also understood that they reproduce quite easily.
Very curious how they will do.
Ugly CO2 flipper back in the tank. It turned out that the atomizer needs a working pressure of 2.5 bar which my CO2 set can deliver (1.5 bar only).
New plants and atomizer came in today. Finaly i got rid of the ugly CO2 flipper. The atomizer is located outside the tank out of sight. Big improvement. The plant where more of the same to fill up the gaps. The tank is becoming pretty green now :-)
It is a sunny morning so i opened the curtains to let the sun shine into the tank. A few minutes later you can see oxygen, produced by the plants bubling to the surface. These plants are lean and mean oxygen machines! Nice :-)
Startup of the tank will be in the next three weeks.
During startup no fish will be added to the tank yet.
The startup approach is as follows:
1. Limit the amount of light during startup (max 8 hours/day)
2. Add CO2 and fertilizer right from the start (according EI)
3. Do a lot of water changes (first week 3 x 50% slowly reducing to 1 x 50%)
4. Don't hold back on new plants. Fill up the tank with plants right from the beginning.

There we go. Today the plants for the new tank arrived and that was the trigger to fill the tank with plants and water.
As soon as it is stable i will take some pictures to post here.
