after a short Easter vacation to warmer weather and now back, I have completed my tank maintenance for the week. I have done the usual tank maintenance tasks. This time I checked all of my parameters as soon as the water change was completed ( hour after water settled). After this, I started using my dosing system at a small starting level to see if I can maintain my levels, before increasing them gradually. I hope that over time, I will have to worry less and just enjoy it more.
massive tank maintenance day. First thing was to reclaibrate the refractometer. I have never done this. I thought 1.026 was where I was at. The actual after using the test solution was 1.021. Big difference for figuring out all my levels. I also have my dosing pumps to install today and start mixing solutions for the dosing. My hair algae is finally almost all gone. The flow is up and going. I have much better test kits to use and track levels. I just hope to get all my levels to a more constant level.

I believe that I will place an order tomorrow for a dosing set up through bulk reef supply. I feel that the space and individual pumps will just be easier for me. I can replace them easier or remove them if I no longer need them. Once I get the stuff I can condition my water change water with the needed levels before I introduce it to the aquarium.

Looking for advice on dosing pumps. which to look at and which to steer clear of. if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I have an apex to control the pumps if they are not stand alone. I do not want a to deal with a reactor and refilling a CO2 tank.

My hair algae in the main tank has taken a beating in the last 24 hours with the water change, siphoning algae off sand bed, GFO change to high capacity GFO, and then dosing with waste away. The MP40 on pulse has really loosened the dieing algae. Only took 4 months but it is looking better everyday.

whole day of tank maintenance today. Cleaned display by vacuuming lose algae from sand bed. first time ever. Rearranged coral frags. Cleaned the overflow cover. Cleaned both display tank Koralia. also placed my brand new Ecotech mp40. In the sump, I replaced the GFO and Carbon. I did a water change. I cleaned the skimmer cup, neck, and head. need to replace orp probe. Got a new magnesium test kit. seachem was a piece of crap. Red sea was a 1000% better. still need new alkalinity test and calcium test. I am looking into the idea of dosing pumps for the three. Corals seem to be pulling a lot out. Will do one more water change and test with new test kits.

orp needs replaced. PH is running high. Must run tests on all the parameters. added powerhead to refug to kick up dead spots.
finally hooked up my complete apex controller to the big saltwater tank. Everything went well. Need to recalibrate the orp probe. Ph probe was re calibrated.
