After tracking down the source of silica being leached into water and causing brown algae (diatoms) outbreak I’ve removed entire substrate that was causing it and replaced. Appears to have solved the issue, although my biological will take a small hit. The Fluval Canisters should be able to handle any excessive loss to filter bed although I did get a
.25 ammonia test this evening. It will take a bit to even back out. Added a maintenance dose of Stability to re seed the filter bed.
