I'll take a photo in the morning to see the progress, if any, in water clarity.
A lot of particulate matter is being returned to the tank by the 2217 at this moment. My guess is that it is due to a combination of the vacuuming stirring up the gravel and therefore getting into the filter but not being filtered out as well as debris from the filtration materials that I couldn't wash away during preparation. I'm curious if the particulate matter and the cloudiness will clear up by tomorrow morning. Considering the 2217's 264 gallons/hour volume, it shoudn't take long to clear up this tank. We'll see.
Used the supplied spraybar but would have preferred an outlet like that of the ECCO 2232. I may change the output configuration later since I had to loop the output tube in a circle to accommodate a rear wall mounting of the spraybar as well as bring the return pipe up the back of the tank for cosmetic reasons (the manual shows mounting the spraybar to a side facing return pipe going over the side of the tank. All this may be eliminated if I ever construct the "quiet overflow" and use a sump/refugium.
Inserted intake tube of the Eheim 2217 into the up tube of the undergravel filter system to maintain gravel filtration. Tube was not a tight fit to the up tube but the gap is small enough that it will not admit any full size fish or invertebrates and will allow any back pressure through the undergravel system to be mitigated.
Algae seems to have slowed its growth but the water is still green and cloudy. The fish don't seem to mind it, though - as expected.
Water is a little clearer today. Don't know why. All I did was turn light off at about 5 PM yesterday (9 Hours).
Spoke to one of the staff at That Fish Place and he suggested I cut back my lighting schedule to 9 hours per day to combat the algae/green water issue. I'll try that starting tomorrow.
I have a green water issue. Amazons are doing great but all the other plants are covered with algae and not thriving. I don't know how to diminish the algae other than turning the light off which will harm the plants I want to grow. Perhaps the Liquid Carbon Source is the culprit. I will stop dosing tomorrow.
The 10 gallons removed from the main tank was used to setup the new 10 gallon for the new momma mollie.
