So far the restart has gone well, new sump is working a treat loving the extra room.
When i first set this tank up 3yrs ago i spared no expense when it came to buying hardware... ecotech lights and wave makers, deltec skimmer, waveline pumps ect
This time round i planned a little experiment... i wanted to test the cheap asian knock off hardware and see if it was worth the massive savings... so far im running 2 mars aqua led light, jebao 12000 dc pump, coral box d500 skimmer, jebao 18w uv and jecod cp40 gyre knockoff - all coming in at under $1000 as compared to the $4500+ i spent last time.
Have to admit so far im pretty impressed! The mars aqua led are nice, good colour seperate dimmable blue and white/green/red channels, it will be intresting to see what the coral growth is like because so far bang for your buck is pretty good . The gyre knock off is awesome... quiet...powerful...and apparently fully programmable just like the mp40s (still waiting on the wifi module to test this function ).
The skimmer is unreal whisper quiet running the dc pump at half speed and its producing a decent amount of chunky dark skimate. its worth every cent . Dc return pump is good its quiet but in saying that is only turning over maybe 5000lph as for the uv the lights on it seems to be working. Overall im happy, I've saved $3500+, the quality of the hardware is good but will it stand the test of time .
