Tank is back to 0 nitrates again which is fantastic!

All inhabitants looking damn near perfect!

Snapped my achiles tendon so am cutting down on the cleaning whilst my wife looks after some of the other jobs that I can not do.

I will also stop feeding reef pearls just to see if there is any change in coral health?

Arrived back from Portugal to find the lights off om the tank. Luckily the power was only knocked out for that day! I tested and found the reef octopus pump tripping the electrics. Replaced for a sicci syncra 5.0 and all is well.

Nitrates are still at 1 so may add some more bio pellets to get back to 0.

All inhabitants are nicely colored, growing and healthy!

Well!, ... the first 3 months work has payed off beautifully! All corals are growing well and colored up nicely. Dosing has not been adjusted in 6 weeks and has remained perfectly stable apart from magnesium which requires a manual boost every month or so.

Am thinking of auto dosing magnesium and reef pearls as icing on the cake!

On a bad note, BIOPELLET PUMP IS RUNNING VERY WEAKLY!!!!

NEEDS SORTING ASAP!!

nitrates still barely detectable but I need to make sure the reactor has a consistent flow! especially as gong away fro 2 weeks.

On another good note, I can freeze my frozen garlic feeds for ages now and have ordered new bottles to do so for Mat whilst I am away.

On a final note, I cleaned the back of the tank so it now looks like a clinical black! I quite like it ;)

I STILL LOVE REEFING!!

Tank is still in very good shape. I am starting to see a little green algae but the tangs seem to be managing it. I do believe the tank has not fully matured yet and expect to see only coraline after a year or so.

MIXED SOME MORE ALKALINITY SOLUTION (15l) was at 3 litres left

nitrates went back to zero after a few days of skimming which just shows how important skimming is.

I didnt have the skimmer running for 4 days this week and have immidiately seen the nitrates rise to 2.5ppm. Skimmer back on and will see results in 4 days.

also CHANGED OUT PHOSPHATE MEDIA

Tank looks fantastic! all inhabitants fat and healthy. Corals are getting more and more tips and the colors are vibrant.

Performed all routine maintenance today and yesterday and decided to lower feeding to see if glass stays cleaner for longer.

I think I have cracked it on the dosing and water changes now so will start testing calc and alk every couple of days this week. If it stays perfect I will test weekly.

Regal tang is looking perfect! not a blemish.

It has been one week with stable calc and alk without any dose tweakings (apart from removing reef buffer which I feel was over complicating things anyway) If this remains the same till after the water change on Sunday, then I will start to test calc and alc twice a week as opposed to every day.

Noticed some slimey algae on some of the rocks so will keep an eye to see if this gets worse. My feeling is this is just a part of the new tank maturing but if this worsens I will reduce feeding.

Had a sneaky look at nitrates this morning and it was undetectable so not too concerned.
