The tank really is in a much better place. Plants are growing well, algae has really reduced and the tank inhabitants are very happy.

Last night I noticed some pearling from the Anubis. Onwards and upwards!

The tank is really coming along now. We are heading back to the stable days.

Co2 injection is better. I have reduced the co2 to avoid a acid hit. I am stablising GH and KH with Seachem equilibrium. I think I will need to add some crushed coral soon to buffer the water

I have added another 4 Amano shrimp and introduced 9 cory catfish yesterday.

Patience is key but very happy with the progress.

After many weeks planning for new substrate, Ive made the decision to stay as I am.
Ive done a big plant cut back today and cleaned the gravel with my Ehiem gravel vac. So much detritus.
The tank is starting to look abit more like it was a while back. The next few weeks will tell.
Ive tied the java fern to a piece of bog wood. It looks really nice.
I’ve installed a second drop checker to see if it’s accurate enough.
The siamese algae eater is being odd. The other week I honestly thought it was ready to explode! He/ she is busy eating algae again and after getting back to the normal size is starting to go big again.
The Amano shrimp are hiding alot, but have seen them out and about abit more.

After a good deep clean yesterday, both canister filters and 120litre water change, the tank is beginning to look better.
Im still adjusting the skimmer to avoid micro bubbles but this will be something I improve over time.
All fish seem happy. We are down to two Amano ship. I think the emperor Gudgeons got the other two sadly.
The siamese algae eater is massive. I dont know how he /she hasnt popped yet. Non stop eating.
This week will be the week where we hopefully see more stability in the aquarium. Im looking to see plant growth and a reduction in algae. But lets see. Patience is key.

So the tank is recovering nicely. Plants seem healthier and are growing. NH4 has dropped massively and pH has stabilised.

Algae is still a challenge, but today I am aiming at cleaning the other side of the aquariums gravel and both canister filters.

Also I plan to adjust the surface skimmer to avoid excessive bubbles 🫧 entering the water column.

The tank has been massively neglected the past year. I have a plan to get the tank back to its once tip top condition.

I have vacuumed a third of the tanks gravel today. Starting with the left side of the tank. Ive run the tests and also have started the CO2 again. Hopefully this maintenance and having the CO2 back will drive back the hair algae.

All tank readings are where they need to be. Nitrate is abit high, but that may be due to the disturbance of the gravel.

I will perform more gravel cleaning next week and retest the water.

The tank is coming on leaps and bounds.

I have been regulating the heater as it keeps going high. The house temperature is helping the temperature of the water but need to rethink the plug sockets below.

So the big test for the tank. Today is the first time since Feb that I cleaned the two canister filters.

This means a Fluval 407 and 306 have been running without being cleaned since Feb.

Results? Plants and fish are fine. However you can tell due to the build up in organic matter.

Now for the road to recovery.

Sadly the Fluval G6 has died. Sending to a fellow fish keeper for parts. Have just acquired the Fluval 407. Very impressed!
