Got a replacement hydrometer today. A new one I just opened prior to this was reading 1.004 sg for fresh water. The new one is properly calibrated to 1.000 for fresh water.

I think my earlier alkalinity measurements were off due to the fact that I did not properly shake the bottle before doing the test. The most recent measurements indicate that my pH is low, that my alkalinity is low, and my calcium is low. I will start a regimen of using the B-Ionic calcium buffer system and try to monitor the levels daily.

My Instant Ocean Hydrometer broke today. Luckily I had one that I won at MACNA D.C., but this appears to not be calibrated. It reads the specific gravity of fresh tap water to be 1.004, so I'm not sure how to offset the saltwater reading. ????

Tank is running a couple degrees warmer than I want. I currently have a 100w and a 200w heater in the sump. I'll try unplugging the 100w for a couple days and monitor it throughout the day
