Feeding my Hairy Mushroom (Rhodactis indosinensis)
I have always thought it was neat seeing how mushrooms eat food and the Hairy Mushroom (Rhodactis indosinensis) is no exception. Bonus: By taking this video, I discovered that there are actually TWO mushrooms on this frag that I bought! I didn't see it so upclose without the video. :p Music: Kail Engel - Moonlight Reprise http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Kai_Engel/Irsens_Tale/Kai_Engel_-_Irsens_Tale_-_04_Moonlight_Reprise

Super easy DIY protein skimmer that works!
Out of boredom recently I decided to make a DIY protein skimmer, following the tutorial in the King of DIY's tutorial video. I was skeptical at first but after running it for a few days it's producing skimmate! It's running a bit wet so I need to fine tune it but I'm probably going to keep it going for a while. Neon Dottyback KILLED my Watchman Goby! Do research before buying fish!
About 6 months ago I bought a Neon Dottyback who has been one of the more beautiful additions to my reef tank. I never knew how aggressive they were until I added a Watchman Goby and the Dottyback started bullying the Goby until he died. I was at work while this happened and my daughter happened to catch a little bit of it on tape. I feel so terrible for killing this beautiful Goby and of course it's so frustrating to waste money. Fish stores will tell you whatever you want to hear so you'll buy their stuff - NEVER buy fish or corals on impulse and always do your own research or it could cost you your fish, corals, or tank!

Picking up a Flame Hawkfish from The Shark Reef
Ever since laying my eyes on the Flame Hawkfish at my LFS, I knew I wanted to get one. So needless to say I was ecstatic when I found out the next shipment had come in. This is a vlog of me picking up the Flame Hawkfish at my LFS (The Shark Reef, Silverdale, WA) and a few shots of him in my tank!

What are spirorbid worms? (Reef Tank Questions)
Now that your tank has been up and running for a while, and you've added some fish and corals, you may have noticed some tiny white dots about the size of a pinhead growing on your glass, overflow boxes, and maybe even in your sump. They are Spirorbid Worms, which are filter feeders. It won't hurt to scrape them off if you don't like the appearance, but they are harmless and are considered normal in a healthy reef tank environment. This image is of their selfmade shell, and a tiny feather duster which pops out to capture nearby particulates. Totally reef-safe.

Jebao PP-4 is too noisy so I'm returning it!
The Jebao PP-4 was on my wishlist for a very long time and I was very disheartened when I set it up and found out how noisy it is. You can hear a 'buzz' from the pump every time it comes on and I can hear it from my living room. I got a replacement from Amazon in case it was defective but the replacement does it as well!

Gorgeous Rainbow RBTA / Rose Bubble Tip Anemone
I was hesitant to add another anemone after my sebae anemone died, despite that it wasn't really my fault (it had a foot injury) but so far this rainbow RBTA is doing amazing in my tank and makes a beautiful addition.

Was it a mistake adding a sebae anemone?
I added a sebae anemone to my reef tank and am wondering if it was a mistake. I've learned through research online that these anemones are difficult to acclimate, and further, that my 'nem is bleached. Yikes!
