Introduction

I've been in and out of the freshwater hobby since I was young. The itch to get into saltwater hit me about 5 years ago. I built a new house in 2011 and a big tank was a consideration in the design. Initially, to get my feet wet, I purchased a Red Sea Max 250 to serve my apprenticeship. About 3 months post cycling the tank split a seam and I literally got my feet wet! With my apprenticeship cut short I decided to move forward with the big project. Now known as the "bitten off more that I can chew" project, with much help I am at the point of beginning to cycle as of 12/01/14.

Inhabitants

As I prepare for livestock, my initial quarantining plan is as follows: I will start with 15 days of tank transfer to insure ick is eraticated. The 2nd and 4th transfer tank will be treated with praziquantel. The next week following TT will be another treatment of praziquantel for a total of 13 days. Finally I will keep them in quarantine for 4 weeks of observation.

Acknowledgements

As I've stated before, this is certainly a project that is way over my head and would not be possible without the "above and beyond" effort of Jason (mrkickalot) whose skill in construction and attention to detail is apparent through out the build. Design ideas were shamelessly stolen from Dennis (d2mini) for the mixing station, stock tank and general layout in the garage. Support from local club members such as David (seaclear) and Jackie at Kentucky Saltwater Supplies and others were instrumental in pushing me off the deep end on this project :). Thank you to all!
