Water change night!
Algae still a problem, have been dosing with excel daily to try and keep under control. Did a manual removal as much as possible on water change so hopefully will slowly disappear as the excel works through.
Vallis seems to be doing better. Hair grass carpet is looking magnificent. Frogbit seems to be doing much better than previous lot. Definitely starting to cover a decent corner of the tank.
Added 10 CPDs on Saturday, were very pale and stressed upon putting them into the tank.
They seem to be colouring up well and have been feeding live (frozen) bloodworms to get the settled. Still very shy. Trying to have them associate me with food so they aren't so shy.
Typical CPD behaviour though. Schooling together and coming out to explore when I am not too close to the tank.
Also added 10 very small cherry shrimp. They have disappeared into the hair grass to hardly be seen. On water change 3 made an appearance. I moult shell seen. Left in tank
pH seems to have dropped to 6.4 which is better for all inhabitants.
All other parameters still good.

Green algae Alert.
Have bought some more frog bit to replace the frog bit that had died off.
Hopefully the algae means there will be enough nutrients in there now to keep the frog bit alive.
Fish loves the floating plants.
Have been cutting back on the excel to see if it helps the vallisneria come on a bit more. It seem to have random small amounts of melt, but is certainly spreading.
Filter rinsed in tank water during water change tonight. Not too dirty, but definitely some detritus and and cloudy water after rinsing and squeezing of sponge.
Water seemed bit cloudy today, but think it is due to some slight over feeding.
Slight rise in ammonia today, again probably due to overfeeding!!
Frogbit has pretty much disappeared from the tank. Imagine not enough Nitrates/ammonia for surface plant.
Will see if it comes back whilst not using the excel.
Small Bubble nest being built around top of heater.
Need to cut down little on feeding as some pellets being wasted in the hair grass.
Fish definitely trained to come for food!! Comes to front of tank whenever I approach.
Small Bubble nest around heater this morning.
Was gone when married home.
Brownish marks seem to have cleared up.
Water change tonight. 20 l.
Attempted to feed blood worms. Not really interested.
Will attempt in a couple of days.
Parameters all good. Sachem Prime and Flourish excel added as per normal.
Noticed brownish marks on bottom of anal fin. May be due to fish hiding on top of filter plate. Will have to siphon the filter plate more often when water changing.
Probably due to the build up of mulm on plate.
Mr Snail is back, not worried about him at this moment as only snail I have seen in tank. Will monitor food to Betta very carefully to ensure not much excess being used by snail.
New food today.
Hikari Betta floating pellets. Fed some to Betta who seemed somewhat uninterested.
They don't seem to sink very quickly so will monitor to ensure all being eaten.
Less flaring the last day or so, think he has realised he is in there alone.
Still very active and using whole tank. Likes to hang out under what is left of the Frogbit.
Frogbit is definitely slowly dwindling to nothing. Only very small new leaves still around. Larger leaves are have mainly disintegrated and removed put to 6 from tank during water change today.
May have to look into fake floating plants.
Also considering chopping up the piece of driftwood in storage and getting some moss to attach for top of the tank to find more higher up hiding places for fish.
First water change with fish in and no adverse reactions. Fish fairly interested in me water changing. fairly spritely and no adverse reactions to me messing around in the tank.
Fish looking good, fins a little beat up from shipping, but in good general condition.
Flaring in left front corner as must be able to see reflection.
Not seen him eating as yet.
Very active, rests underneath sponge filter when not swimming.
Floating plants not doing great. Suspect due to lack of nitrates in system. Rather have the lower nitrates than worry about fish health.
Perhaps need to add some driftwood with more hiding/resting places for the fish.
Also thinking about adding some bottom swimming fish. Otocinclus, Corydorus, Khuli perhaps.
Perhaps adding some smaller 'dither fish', suggestions, endlers regular guppies or some small tetras, Ember probably preferred.
